Paul McNamara is a doctor, medical educator, author, father of three girls and a lover of books. Paul graduated from Glasgow University with a 1st class honours degree in anatomy and then went on to study medicine and qualified with distinction and commendation.
He is the author of three books – 'Mastering medical exams', 'Case-based discussions in medicine' and 'I love my teacher's guts.' He wrote 'I love my teacher's guts' in collaboration with his three children: Isla (age 9), and Emily and Freya (age 7).
He has published multiple articles in the British Medical Journal and the British Journal of General Practice. He has a passion for medical education and has been awarded Honorary Clinical Lecturer by the University of Glasgow for his contributions to teaching.
When not writing, he works as a deep end GP serving socio-economically deprived populations in Scotland. He also loves to work in remote and rural medicine and is an advocate for the Reach foundation which encourages and supports school pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to enter tertiary education.
He is a true believer that education is one of the most powerful tools that we can use to change the world. His books are educational, authoritative and will inspire the next generation of medics!
